Come be a part of something that matters! Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Maintenance Technician I. The candidate must possess the ability to fulfill the requirements of this position, which primarily involves executing basic maintenance, landscaping, and operational support activities. This role carries considerable responsibilities concerning the upkeep of athletic fields, which encompasses tasks such as trimming, cutting, raking, mulching, watering, and weeding the grounds. Additionally, there may be a need for specialized turf care and the preparation of fields for athletic events. This position also requires performing essential maintenance and repair tasks on vehicles and equipment, as well as utilizing fundamental skills from the building trades for preventive maintenance and repairs. While this role does not entail direct supervisory duties, it may involve overseeing the work of volunteers, seasonal staff, and community service participants. We are currently hiring for the following location(s): 849 Trailview Blvd, Leesburg, VA Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conducts maintenance and repairs using the correct tools and materials; executes tasks in accordance with industry standards; guarantees that work practices do not result in hazardous conditions. Carries out daily outdoor maintenance in accordance with the established schedule and the center's maintenance plan. Maintains required vehicle records. May function as critical and vital personnel during county emergencies. Assists in the removal of snow in assigned areas as specified by the County snow plan. Operates heavy machinery and vehicles, such as trucks with trailers; facilitates the transportation of heavy equipment. Provides preventive maintenance by identifying and resolving problems. After inspecting County facilities and vehicles, completes the report, submits the work request, and informs the customer of the findings and the expected resolution. May carry out additional critical job responsibilities that are specific to the role and departmental assignment. Hiring salary commensurate with experience. High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related work experience in ground maintenance or building trades depending on assigned area. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with materials, equipment, and terminology essential for both grounds and indoor maintenance is preferred. Capability to operate based on specifications, drawings, and blueprints. Must undergo pre-employment criminal and DMV background checks. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. Annual reviews of driving records may be conducted to ensure ongoing qualification. Preferred Qualifications: This position is CDL preferred; the candidate is not required to hold or obtain this certification. Work Environment: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include weekday, evening, and weekend hours. Must be able to work on an as-needed or recall basis or report as needed as assigned. May be required to work beyond scheduled workday or on weekends and may be subject to recall. Must be able to lift sixty (60) pounds.
