The water safety instructor will create engaging, safe and inclusive swim lessons in a fun, supportive environment where participants can build confidence, develop essential swimming skills and enjoy learning. Flexible shifts with daytime, evening and weekend hours, no more than 29 hours per week. Locations: Wayzata East Middle School Pool and Wayzata West Middle School Pool Training provided prior to program start dates. Water Safety Instructor While promoting swimmer safety, educate participants on proper swim skills and techniques. Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with department guidelines; maintain a controlled and safe learning environment for all participants. Plan, organize, coordinate and direct swim activities and program for participants of all ages and skill levels. Provide support and assistance to participants and staff as needed to promote a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment. Work collaboratively with instructors, lifeguards, recreation staff, and supervisors to ensure safe, engaging and high-quality programs for all participants. Follow established staff policies, procedures, safety standards and guidelines, ensuring all staff and participants understand and follow the established policies and procedures. Provide a safe, fun and appropriate experience for all participants. Required Qualifications Must be 16 years old by program start date Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification Desired Qualifications Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, function well under stress, show respect and compassion and be customer focused. Desire to work in a team environment with a commitment to the success of the program. Need certification?
