Sports Reporter of The Xavierite - Student Employment

The Sports Reporter is responsible in assisting the Sports Editor in providing Sports stories for the publication of The Xavierite . The Sports Reporter is responsible for producing one to two sports stories for every issue of The Xavierite . This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies: Professionalism: Students build professionalism by practicing dependability, accountability, confidentiality when applicable, workplace etiquette, and respectful service in a workplace setting. Technology: Students build technology skills by using department systems, software, digital tools, equipment, or university platforms to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Communication: Students build communication skills by practicing clear, respectful, and professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication in a workplace setting. Produces one-two articles per week Attends general staff meeting Meets weekly with Section Editor Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (4 hours per week). Assists with the layout of the section Ensures that The Xavierite website has up to date material to be posted Member of the Student Media Sports Committee MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY Must be Federal Work Study E ligible Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter Preference in journalism, communication, or English.We inspire success by working together to provide meaningful, personalized service in a spirit of excellence.
