Under the NY HELPS Program, the Civil Service Exam for this title has been waived. For additional information regarding the NY HELPS Program, please visit: https://www.cs.ny.gov/help/faq.cfm CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE. Provides comprehensive, age appropriate, evidence-based, and medically accurate sexuality education to youth in an effort to promote healthy sexual behaviors including abstinence, delay the onset of sexual activity and reduce the practice of risky sexual behaviors; Facilitates access to comprehensive reproductive health care and family planning services for teens to prevent pregnancies, STDs, and HIV/AIDS; Seeks the expansion of education, social, recreational, vocational and economic opportunities for youth to provide alternatives to sexual activity and to develop skills that can support a successful transition into healthy young adulthood; Assists in the advancement of a comprehensive and sustainable local community effort to improve the community environment for adolescents, reduce initial and subsequent adolescent pregnancy, STD, and HIV/AIDS rates and reduce health disparities related to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and geography; Prepares a variety of written and typed correspondence for distribution in an effort raise awareness regarding adolescent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases; Maintains logs of various activities for tracking and reporting; Attends appropriate trainings to gain knowledge on adolescent sexual health topics; Works evenings and weekends as needed. I. Bachelor's degree in human services, education, business administration, public administration, or related field AND one (1) year of full-time experience (or its part-time equivalent) providing training on human service related topics, which include program development, implementation, and monitoring OR II. Associate’s degree in human services, education, business administration, public administration, or related field AND two (2) years of experience as described in (I) above. OR III. Four (4) years of experience as described in (I) above.
