Come be a part of something that matters! We are seeking qualified applicants for the Recreation Programmer position. Under the overall guidance of the appointed supervisor, this role facilitates specific activities as designated for a program(s) within a Department. Depending on the assigned area, this position assesses eligibility; approves or rejects requests; promotes program plans; supervises certain program activities; engages in community outreach initiatives; submits necessary and requested reports; recruits participants and/or volunteers; procures program materials; maintains facilities; and manages the associated operations and budget for the designated program/area. This role may oversee volunteers and staff during program events and activities. We are currently hiring for the following location(s): Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, Sterling, VA Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and implement a marketing strategy to ensure high levels of participation in all recreation programs. Formulate and manage a marketing plan to enhance program visibility; produce various materials including flyers, news releases, direct mail, newsletters, advertisements, and web information; and ensure that staff is kept informed about the programs. Monitor the interactions of facility customers, renters, and citizens; enforce the established rules and regulations of the facility. Trains and recruits volunteer leaders to oversee special projects and activities. Design, implement, and manage a variety of recreational programs tailored to the needs and interests of youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Other essential job functions that are specific to the position and department assignment may be carried out. Hiring salary commensurate with experience. High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred: bilingual fluency (Spanish/English) Must be available to work a varied schedule including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Must undergo a criminal background, credit, Child Protective Services (CPS), and DMV checks. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Annual reviews of driving records may be conducted to ensure ongoing qualification. Fingerprints and TB tests must be conducted within 30 days of employment. First Aid/CPR certification is required to be obtained within four months of being hired or at the time of hiring.
