This is a highly technical position requiring extensive amounts of records keeping, logging, filing and typing. Good knowledge of the Policies and Procedures of the FCIC/NCIC/NLETS systems and a good working knowledge of the overall Law Enforcement process. Operators must constantly be aware of the civil litigations which may arise as a result of misuse of the system, regardless of intent. Tasks: Complete assignment as directed; maintain work areas; knowledge of general orders; respond to teletype inquiries and other related assistance under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff and in accordance with agency and Florida Department of Law Enforcement policy. • Minimum four years related work experience, or Associates Degree and two years related work experience. • Obtain and maintain the State of Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) certification. • Demonstrated skill in the use of computer and office equipment as required to perform the position tasks. • Ability to work independently using efficient time management skills. • Ability to enter and/or retrieve information from WINGS/NCIC/FCIC computer systems in an accurate manner and in accordance with all applicable state and federal statutes and agency policies. • Effectively communicate information, both verbal and written, demonstrating awareness for human diversity to citizens and colleagues.
