Shannon Center Clerical - Student Employment

The Shannon Center Clerical student worker position is responsible for providing a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for all users of the University’s athletic facility, including students, faculty, staff, and community members. This role supports the day-to-day operations of the fitness center and promotes a positive experience for all guests. Students gain practical experience in customer service, facility operations, and event support. Technology: Students build technology skills by using department systems, software, digital tools, equipment, or university platforms to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Greet all patrons upon entry and enforce rules in a respectful and professional manner Check in members, using Google Sheets, to verify membership status Monitor access and ensure all users are following facility policies and guidelines by doing bi-hourly walk-throughs Provide general information about equipment, programs, special events, and membership options Assist with basic cleaning and sanitization of equipment within the fitness center Dustmop, sweep and vacuum fitness center Refill and replenish disinfectant sprays and paper towel rolls Empty trash in fitness room as needed Report any maintenance or safety issues to manager Assist with set up or take down for special programs and events Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned Answer phone and take notes as needed MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY Must be Federal Work Study E ligible Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter Friendly, approachable, and customer service-oriented Ability to work independently and take initiative Strong communication and interpersonal skills Punctual and reliable CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred Knowledge of fitness equipment and safety procedures is a plus• Ability to problem solve Ability to effectively multi-task Attention to detail Ability to handle cash in a trusting and responsible way We inspire success by working together to provide meaningful, personalized service in a spirit of excellence.
