Under the supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator, the Deputy Clerk provides quality customer service while performing the duties of a clerk in the Municipal Court. Every employee must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, provide courteous customer service, and possess the ability to remain professional while dealing with often angry or hostile individuals. Each employee must represent the Municipal Court with making ethical decisions in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the ordinances of the City of The Colony with prudence and integrity and in an impartial manner. • Collects payments of fines at the customer service counter. • Provides heavy customer service activity at the court counter and by phone. • Maintains and balances cash drawer on a daily basis. • Assists with data entry of citations. • Processes all incoming mail daily. • Communicates effectively and courteously with customers in person, in writing, by telephone, and via email. • Handles courtesy calls on overdue fines. • Maintains and files all pending and closed cases. • Attends monthly court sessions, including preparing docket and appropriating after court case updates. • Sits at a computer, stands, and converses for extended periods of time. • May be required to perform other duties as assigned. Requires 45-50 wpm typing skills. Requires the ability to handle heavy customer service daily. Must possess time management & organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize work assignments with accuracy and detail. Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 30 pounds. Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Skilled in critical thinking, listening, and following directions. Required: High School Diploma or GED, Customer Service/Cash Collections experience, and a working knowledge of basic computer skills using Windows. Preferred: Prior experience in Municipal or Justice Court. Bilingual preferred.
