The Department of Finance, Corporate Accounting Division, is seeking a Corporate Accountant I in the Accounts Payable Section. This position reports to the Corporate Accounts Payable Manager. Processes contract payments and maintain related retainage records. Processes other payment types. (i.e. purchase orders, expense reports, employee advances, petty cash, utilities, land acquisitions, etc.) Verifies and reconciles utility data interfaced to the accounting system. Prepares cash requirements report for scheduled vendor payments. Participates in weekly payment runs. Processes and submits positive pay and ACH files to the bank and verifies totals. Prepares and posts journal entries. Prepares account reconciliations. Develops and maintains procedures. Responsible for financials statements, schedules and responding to inquiries and data requests for the annual audit. Research and resolve issues with vendors and operations staff. Responds to customer inquiries. Maintains account codes and vendor updates in subsidiary systems. Participates in software implementations, system upgrades and testing. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills: The ability to perform account analysis. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel. Good interpersonal/customer service skills and ability to effectively interact with others. Effective communication and problem-solving skills with various staff levels. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. The ability to work with Enterprise System software, on-line financial systems and other user-friendly specialized software. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration or any related field. One (1) year of experience in accounting that includes work in the range of duties and responsibilities in this class specification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 5 years.
