Do you enjoy working with people, being active in an aquatic environment, and helping others build confidence in the water? Join our Parks and Recreation team as an Aquatics/Swim Instructor and make a lasting impact by teaching life-saving skills in a fun, supportive environment. What You'll Do Teach swimming lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels, helping them build confidence while learning essential water safety and accident prevention skills. Create a positive, engaging, and encouraging learning environment where every swimmer feels welcomed and supported. Educate participants and families on Parks and Recreation facility rules and promote safe behavior in and around the pool. Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, guardians, and fellow staff to ensure an exceptional experience. Monitor pool conditions by inspecting equipment and promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns. Help keep our aquatic facility clean, safe, and inviting by maintaining the pool deck, emptying skimmer baskets and trash receptacles, brushing pool walls, and completing routine cleaning tasks. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism while serving the public and working collaboratively with teammates in accordance with the City's Ethics Policy. Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace where everyone works together to provide outstanding customer service. Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification through the American Red Cross is preferred. American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED certifications are preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold these certifications may be required to obtain them as a condition of employment.
