Equipment Operator II - Keep it Clean Operations About the Job: The Colorado Springs Public Works team is ready to welcome an Equipment Operator II to their dynamic team! Equipment Operators will perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks for the Keep it Clean team. Anticipated Work Schedule: Schedule is generally 6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignments after hire. This position requires that you are available for emergency callout. See the full potential of growth for this position here: 2026 Salary Schedule As an Equipment Operator II for the Keep it Clean, you will: Safely operate construction and maintenance equipment such as hand and power tools, street sweepers, dump trucks equipped with plows and sanders, front-end loaders, and tandem axle trucks Transport materials and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment Apply chemicals, abrasives, and other ice control products Maintain log and record books Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, mowing, patching potholes, and shoveling asphalt Other duties as assigned Learn more about this job by reviewing the class specification on the City of Colorado Springs Class Specifications page We are looking for candidates who demonstrate: Knowledge of: Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in light and heavy equipment operation Methods and techniques of traffic control Methods and techniques of planning and executing drainage operations Safe operation of mowers, pesticides, and small equipment Ability to: Work independently in the absence of supervision Understand and apply pertinent laws, rules, and regulations Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED) Three years of full-time, professional experience in related field Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges Possess or obtain upon hire a valid non-probationary Colorado Class B CDL (commercial driver's license) not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges (NOTE: CURRENT CDLs MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) DRUG AND ALCOHOL CLEARINGHOUSE AT https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov .)
