At a Glance! Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, energetic and creative instructor committed to community college students and their success. This position will be responsible for teaching courses in Geology and Earth Science. Courses are delivered through hybrid and in-person modalities, and we are seeking an instructor to offer on-campus lab sessions. Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative adjunct instructor to teach courses in Geology and Earth Science. Coursework may include lectures and labs for Introduction to Earth Sciences, and Introduction to Physical Geology. Courses may be in-person, hybrid, or online. We believe diversity enriches the educational experience for all students, faculty, and staff. Contract rates: Lecture rate is $80.68 per contact hour ($887.48 per credit). Lab rate is $60.08 per contact hour ($1,321.76 per credit). Field-based experience rate is $43.64 per contact hour ($1,440.16 per credit). Adjunct faculty are hired on a quarterly basis as needed. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities: Provide quality instruction in the classroom and online, adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations, and maintaining up to date content. Teach and supervise geology and earth science lab experiences, being responsible for the safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and tools. Effectively use computer applications/technology for instruction and communication as appropriate Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes, and provide timely feedback to support learning including providing individualized support Communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a member of the educational team. Uphold LCC policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in an Earth Science (Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, or Astronomy), OR a Master’s degree in a related field with 30 graduate credits in Earth Science.
