Required: High School diploma or GED certificate with one (1) year experience working in a training, educational, industrial, custodial, warehouse, or similar support environment preferred. Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grade: Temporary Salary: $15 - $18 Per Hour DOE Background: Located in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is a newly independent public community college a ccredited by the Higher Learning Commission . Purpose and Scope: Under the general supervision of the Director of Workforce Training and in coordination with MSHA Trainers, the Temporary MSHA Trainer Assistant provides operational and logistical support for Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training activities at the Workforce Training Center. This position assists with preparing classrooms and training materials, cleaning and sanitizing training equipment, maintaining organization of supplies and equipment, and performing general support duties to ensure efficient day-to-day training operations. This position does not provide instruction and is not required to possess MSHA certifications or mining experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Assists MSHA Trainers with daily operations and logistical support for training sessions. Cleans, sanitizes, inspects, and properly stores training equipment, including respirators, masks, and other safety equipment, between training sessions. Assists with classroom setup and breakdown, including arranging tables, chairs, audiovisual equipment, and instructional materials. Prepares and organizes training supplies, handouts, and equipment for scheduled courses. Maintains cleanliness, organization, and inventory of training rooms, storage areas, and equipment areas. Assists with transporting, moving, and setting up equipment and materials as needed. Ensures training materials and equipment are properly stocked and available for instructors and participants. Performs basic inventory tracking and notifies supervisors when supplies or equipment require replenishment. Assists with maintaining a safe, clean, and professional training environment for students, instructors, and visitors. Provides general clerical and operational support to the Training Center as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace. Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitization practices. Ability to organize materials, supplies, and equipment efficiently. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with instructors, staff, students, and community partners. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks with attention to detail and accuracy. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Work Environment and Physical Demand: Use of computer and video display terminal for extended periods Manual dexterity and fine motor skills Ability to communicate information orally and in writing Ability to receive and interpret written and verbal instructions Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or reaching Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds Work both indoors and outdoors, as necessary Exposure to cleaning products, training equipment, and industrial safety equipment May require flexible scheduling to support training needs Performing the essential functions of this position requires the use of a computer throughout most of the
