The Warming House Operations Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and daily operational oversight for the Warming House through coordinating hospitality services, student engagement, volunteer management, and community outreach rooted in Franciscan values and social justice. The Operations Coordinator is instrumental in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and transformational environment that supports individuals experiencing food insecurity, poverty, isolation, and other challenges within the greater Olean community. The Warming House Operations Coordinator supports meaningful service-learning and leadership opportunities for St. Bonaventure University students by integrating Franciscan values, Catholic Social Teaching, and community engagement into daily operations. The Operations Coordinator fosters collaboration among students, volunteers, university departments, and community partners while ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate operations of the Warming House. The Warming House serves a population of guests of varying backgrounds and life situations, some of which may be discomforting. Warming House personnel, including student meal coordinators, may encounter guests or situations that make them uncomfortable, including exposure to behaviors, language and circumstances different than those prevailing on the university’s campus. First category In collaboration with the Director of the Franciscan Center for Social Concern, the Operations Coordinator will: Coordinate daily operations including meal service, hospitality, volunteer scheduling, food safety, inventory management, and facility upkeep. Support the student team for meal preparation, food sourcing, and menu planning in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate student-employees and volunteers. Mentor students through transformational service-learning experiences, providing real-time guidance in challenging situations and fostering reflection, empathy, and professional growth. Monitor program effectiveness through regular assessment, documentation, and continuous improvement practices. Maintain accurate records related to volunteers, inventory, donations, incidents, and program participation. Identify and report operational concerns, incidents, and safety matters to university leadership in a timely and professional manner. Model and teach professional behaviors and leadership aligned with university and Warming House mission and values [SM1] . Create and maintain a welcoming, respectful environment that upholds the dignity of all guests, volunteers, and donors served. Integrate Franciscan values and Catholic Social Teaching into student leadership and volunteer programming [SM1] @Waseda, Hiryu : SDM reviewed and made minor edits in track changes. 80% Second category: Support facilitating the Warming House related events including scheduling, meetings, presentations, and special programming. Assist in planning educational initiatives, community engagement events, and service-learning experiences. Participate in strategic planning and program development initiatives to strengthen the Warming House's impact and sustainability. Participate in ongoing professional development in areas including hospitality, food safety, social justice, and student development. 20% Supplemental Functions: Operate the university vehicle to transport SBU students as needed based on operational requirements and to pick up or deliver donations to other local agencies when necessary. Maintain the university vehicle by refueling, conducting basic safety checks (e.g., fuel level, tires, and fluids), reporting maintenance concerns, and keeping the van clean and operational. Assist with placing orders for food and other supplies, coordinate delivery times, and help maintain adequate inventory levels. Assist with planning and purchasing supplies for the Warming House events. Additional duties as necessary. Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Higher Education, Counseling, Management, Theology, Student Affairs, or a related field preferred. Years of Experience: 1–3 years of experience in community outreach, nonprofit operations, student leadership, hospitality, food service management, preferably in an academic setting, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Certification and/or Licensure: Willingness to obtain ServSafe Manager Certification, De-Escalation & Safety training, CPR certification, and Narcan training. Valid driver's license and ability to be certified to operate university vehicles. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possess excellent administrative, communication and organizational skills. Demonstrate multicultural awareness and contribute to an inclusive, respectful community environment. Model civil and collaborative behavior in all interactions with students, guests, staff, faculty, volunteers, and community members. Have advanced knowledge of all applications of the Microsoft Office Package, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
