Lower Columbia College is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor to teach instrumentation and process technology coursework as part of the Automation, Instrumentation and Robotics (AIR) program. About LCC's AIR Program LCC's AIR program prepares students for a dynamic and rapidly evolving industrial environment through hands-on training in automation systems, robotic technologies, industrial instrumentation, process control, and equipment maintenance. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications so students develop the skills needed to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize complex industrial systems. Current openings include: IMIN 240: Instrumentation Fundamentals (5 credits)– Fall Introduces the essential principles and components of industrial instrumentation systems. The course builds on measurement fundamentals and expands into calibration and control, with emphasis on sensors, transducers, signal-processing devices, and pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement. Students gain practical experience selecting, installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation for industrial process-control applications. IMIN 260: Advanced Instrumentation (5 credits) – Winter Provides an in-depth study of advanced instrumentation techniques and systems used in industrial automation and process control. Topics include signal conditioning, data acquisition, advanced sensors and transducers, process measurement, calibration, and instrumentation communication protocols. Through hands-on labs and projects, students design, implement, integrate, and troubleshoot complex instrumentation systems to improve process efficiency and accuracy. Contract rates: Lecture rate is $80.68 per contact hour ($887.48 per credit). Lab rate is $60.08 per contact hour ($1,321.76 per credit). Field-based experience rate is $43.64 per contact hour ($1,440.16 per credit). Adjunct faculty are hired on a quarterly basis as needed. Among other duties, this Instructor will have the opportunity to: Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in the instruction of industrial instrumentation coursework. Develop and deliver engaging lecture, laboratory, and project-based instruction that connects theory to authentic industrial applications. Teach and demonstrate the selection, installation, calibration, configuration, integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems. Provide timely verbal and written feedback to students, including evaluation and grading of assignments, labs, projects, and assessments. Maintain an effective, safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that emphasizes college and industry safety standards. Support students representing a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, educational experiences, cultures, languages, and learning styles. Maintain current course content and materials, including syllabi, Canvas content, laboratory activities, and assessments. Incorporate instructional technology and use Canvas to support course delivery and student learning. Remain current with technological advances in industrial instrumentation, automation, and process control. Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and industry partners. Uphold LCC policies, procedures, expectations, and standards. Perform other related instructional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Automation, Instrumentation, Robotics, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a closely related field; OR a degree or technical certification from a technical institute or trade school; OR equivalent education, training, and experience resulting in journeyman status through a Washington State registered apprenticeship program. Five years of professional work experience in an industrial setting working with related equipment and technology aligned with the coursework being taught. Demonstrated knowledge of industrial measurement, calibration, sensors, transducers, signal conditioning, data acquisition, and instrumentation communication protocols. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented, and diverse educational environment.
