Cares and attends to animals Feed and water animals as needed; Clean and disinfect cages, pens, and yards and sterilizes equipment; Keep all work spaces tidy & free of debris; Help citizens with questions/concerns & adoption process; Examine animals for signs of illness and notate on vet list; Transfers animals between quarters; Record information according to instructions; Performs related duties as required. Graduation from high school or equivalent with an additional one year experience attending animals or any combination of experience and education that provides the following: Valid Current Driver’s License Physical Exam Required Ability to: Work with animals; Deal effectively with the public; Handle unpredictable animals; Operate the following equipment: catch pole, hose, squeegee, mop, broom; Communicate effectively with others. Physical Requirements Continuously lift and carry up to 25 pounds; Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds; Continuously walk and/or stand during the shift; Climb ladders or stairs; Frequently bend and kneel in order to pick up animals and clean pens on the ground; Push and pull objects for instance dogs attached to a catch pole or leash; Frequently flex upper trunk forward and at the waist and partially flexing of knees; Reach at and below shoulder height.
