This is semi-skilled, sub-professional work in the office and field related to the installation and maintenance of various traffic control devices. Work involves inspection, removal, and installation of various traffic control devices, including but not limited to regulatory signs, barricades, and gates; warning signs and object markers; guide, preferential, and general services signs. Employees in this class work independently on field inspections and must make decisions requiring independent judgment. Employees are supervised at frequent intervals for quality of work performed. Employees may be required to complete other duties as assigned. (All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.) Inspects, installs, and removes various traffic control devices. Performs related work as required. Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a standard high school. Experience related to the noted essential duties and responsibilities is preferred. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability: Some knowledge of traffic control devices and other related principles and practices. Skill in the operation of a variety of standard office and installation equipment. Ability to perform simple mathematical computations. Physical Requirements : Must be physically capable of performing strenuous manual labor in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to see well enough to operate motor vehicles, miscellaneous equipment, and various computer/digital screens. Must be able to hear well enough to communicate effectively to other workers and supervisors. Must be physically capable of lifting 75 lbs. Certifications or Licenses Required : Must have a valid Driver's License and a driving record acceptable for Madison County automobile insurance coverage. Work Schedule 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday To be considered for this position, all applicants must complete the employment application in full.
