Maintenance Worker (Solid Waste)

The City of Aiken Public Services Department is accepting applications for Maintenance Workers in the Solid Waste Division. Candidate must be able to follow a solid waste route book, addressing issues and documenting said issues, in writing, on the route ahead of the sanitation trucks Must be able to stand for periods of time on the back of a garbage or recycling truck, which involves continual stepping on and off the truck and getting garbage or recycle carts and then dumping them in the truck Candidates also assist with the weekly cleaning and greasing of the truck Employee is subject to performing all maintenance work within the department, including but not limited to grounds maintenance, yard debris collection, janitorial services, etc. Must be able to read and write and deal effectively with the public Must have a valid driver's license in good standing This position is subject to a criminal background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities.
