Child Care Aide

Position Summary: The Child Care Aide will be responsible for the general supervision and education enrichment of children ranging in age from 3 months through 6th grade. Duties: Provide service consistent with the program to meet the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents, individual style or culture teachings, and pace of individual learning at assigned worksite. Treat each child with dignity and respect in accordance with Head Start and Tribal protocols. Provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for the children in the child care facility. Assume an equal share of the housekeeping responsibilities with staff. Attend meetings, participating in recommended training programs, courses, and other avenues of professional growth relative to child development. Implement a clear communication process with all parents of children enrolled in the program. Applicant must begin the process of obtaining a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and be certified within two (2) years of being hired. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or a GED. Must have a valid Nevada Driver’s License without limitations, sanctions and able to provide a clean DMV report for insurance purposes. Six (6) months of experience in working in an early childhood development program or similar experience. Must be professionally prepared as an instructor for young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development. Demonstrated ability to be sensitive and mature when interacting with both children and adults. Must be able to pass a background test. Must pass a recent TB test. Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aide certification. Must obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Certificate each year. Must satisfactorily pass an annual physical examination. Indian preference applies.
