Provide advanced professional and lead analysis in the cross-spectrum review and processing of Comprehensive Plan amendments, rezones, special exceptions, major Planning related activities, and strategic initiatives and to present factual findings and reports for these projects to the public, Advisory Boards and the Sarasota County Commission. Job Description: Participates in a project lead capacity in the review and processing of Comprehensive Plan amendments, rezones, special exceptions, large scale developments, neighborhood planning, critical area plans, DRI and DOCC petitions, make presentations to Advisory Boards and the Sarasota County Commission. Prepares staff reports, public hearing packets, ads and notices, adhere to eGenda timeline criteria and accurately post billable hours. Participates in neighborhood workshops, preliminary, and Pre-Application meetings with applicants. Participates in intergovernmental coordination activities representing Sarasota County and assisting the general public, County agencies and departments with general information requests. Represents Planning and Development Services at public hearings, presentations and meetings with the Sarasota County Commission, Advisory Boards, and other Departments; coordinates with other Departments, municipalities, adjacent county governments and other jurisdictions, advises and assists other Departments, regional and state agencies, attorneys and other interested parties with respect to planning initiatives and projects. Serves as a member of the Development Review Coordination team as needed. Other land use and special study and/or Neighborhood Workshop and general government program participation duties as delegated or assigned. Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. About You Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Planning, Land Use, Geography or closely aligned and related field. A minimum of four (4) years related professional planning experience. A Master’s Degree may substitute for one-year of required experience. Planning experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience. Preferred Qualifications: AICP certification is highly preferred. Project Management certification or experience is preferred. FEMA training is preferred. Job Competencies: Principles and practices of land use and public facilities planning, local and state laws, rules and regulations pertaining to land use planning, economic analysis proportionate share, mobility fee, impact fee methodology, project management skills, facilitation skills, interpersonal skills, professional public speaking skills, strong written and oral communications skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software and become proficient in County used software such as LIMS, SharePoint, ArcGIS, eGenda, KRONOS and other software which the County may utilize. About Everything Else Pay: $49.524.80 – $66,601.60
