Custodian – Government Buildings Government Buildings Division / Parks & Recreation Department Application Deadline: Monday, August 24, 2026 Visit www.icgov.org/jobs to apply online Permanent part-time position available Wage: $21.29 – $27.22 per hour (starting wage contingent upon experience) Hours: Sunday, 1:00pm – 8:00pm, Monday, 2:30pm – 8:30pm & Saturday, 1:00pm – 8:00pm Job Summary: Under immediate direction, performs work in the maintenance and cleaning of City buildings, facilities and grounds. Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other: High school education or G.E.D. or pursuit of degree and one to three months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid State of Iowa driver's license with satisfactory driving record. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check. FBI fingerprint screening will be required for facility access to Iowa City Police Department. Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other: High school education or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in janitorial or building maintenance.
