Recycling Specialty Equipment Operator HIRING RANGE: $26.70 - $30.05 HOURLY About the Position: The Recycling Specialty Equipment Operator performs a variety of skilled duties in support of the City's recycling operations, including operating specialized collection vehicles and equipment to collect, transport, process, and transfer recyclable materials. This position is responsible for servicing collection routes and the drop-off location, maintaining and delivering collection containers, operating forklifts, skid steers, and other specialized equipment, performing routine equipment inspections and maintenance, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of recycling facilities. The Specialty Equipment Operator also provides exceptional customer service by assisting residents, answering questions, and promoting proper recycling practices while ensuring all work is performed in accordance with established safety procedures. About the Recycling Division: The City of Grand Junction Recycling Division provides curbside recycling collection to customers within the city limits and operates a staffed public drop-off facility open six days per week. The Division is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while providing a comprehensive range of recycling services, including collection, drop-off, material processing, and public education to support waste diversion and environmental stewardship . What You'll Do: Operate a variety of collection vehicles; collect, sort, decontaminate, and transfer recyclable materials from customer locations to designated facilities. Collect, assemble, wash, and deliver plastic totes and lids. Operate various equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, skid steers, and other specialized equipment. Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures. Respond to requests and inquiries from customers and the public; provide the public with information regarding the recycling collection process. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. What We're Looking For: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in general labor, maintenance and repair, landscaping, or construction. High school diploma or G.E.D. Possession of a Colorado Class “B” commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
