This role supports the bank's trading, risk, operations, and finance technology across global operations. It suits a technically-minded candidate looking to build experience across trading technology, application support, data engineering, and applied AI — working under senior engineers rather than leading independently. Core responsibilities: Trading application support — Provide frontline support for front-office trading, risk, and market data systems: monitoring production, investigating incidents, coordinating fixes with technology teams and vendors, and supporting daily operations (trade processing, market data checks, batch monitoring, reconciliations). Includes rotational on-call/incident duties and maintaining support documentation. Data engineering & analytics — Help build and maintain data pipelines, run data validation/reconciliation checks, support reporting and dashboarding for business and tech stakeholders, and maintain data catalogues and documentation. AI & innovation — Support senior engineers in rolling out AI and automation solutions (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot), assist with testing/deployment of AI-driven tools, and help spot process-improvement opportunities using data and AI. Operations & controls — Support monitoring/alerting across production environments, assist with DR testing and business continuity activities, and follow security/risk/governance protocols in all data and application work. Collaboration — Work closely with traders, risk, operations, and tech teams; participate in project delivery and change management; build knowledge of trading systems and financial markets while contributing to team-wide learning. Requirements: Some exposure to AI/ML, Microsoft Copilot, or data analytics tools Basic grasp of financial markets, trading, or banking tech environments Strong analytical and problem-solving ability SQL experience for data investigation and business support Understanding of databases, data processing, and system integrations Nice-to-have: Hands-on AI/ML experience beyond basic exposure Background supporting trading, market risk, settlement, or market data systems Familiarity with trading platforms (Murex, Bloomberg, Reuters, or similar) Account Manager Jason He Runfeng EA License No: 16S8107 EA Personnel Registration No: R25157533

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
