Candidate with lesser experience and may be considered for the Assistant Software Engineer position. Job Responsibilities: Design, develop, configure, test and integrate software solutions for SCADA and system integration projects. Gather and analyse system requirements and prepare software designs. Develop applications using C/C++, C#, Python, TypeScript or other relevant programming and scripting languages. Design and configure user-friendly SCADA screens, animations, alarm displays and system interfaces. Configure I/O points and integrate SCADA software with field controllers and other systems. Design and optimise relational databases using MSSQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL. Perform in-house software testing, system integration testing and site testing. Support software deployment, installation, testing and commissioning at customers’ sites. Retrieve and analyse system logs to troubleshoot software, database, network, protocol and communication issues. Implement software fixes, patches, enhancements and system upgrades. Prepare software documentation, test reports and technical records. Provide production and technical support to project teams and customers. Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related discipline. Knowledge or experience in two or more programming languages such as C/C++, C#, HTML5 or Unix Shell. Familiarity with at least one scripting language such as Python, Bash or TypeScript. Knowledge of relational databases such as MSSQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL. Good understanding of computer networks, Windows and Unix/Linux environments. Knowledge of REST APIs, communication protocols, map engines, SCADA, RSBMS or cybersecurity will be advantageous. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
