Job Summary The Network Engineer will work closely with senior members of the team to maintain the integrity of Vistra's OT network for GCS, following NERC CIP guidelines. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting GCS network systems for real-time systems. Job Description Key Accountabilities Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructures. Configure and optimize network performance, security, and reliability. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders. Conduct network assessments and audits. Troubleshoot network issues and perform root cause analysis. Document network configurations and best practices. Stay current with emerging technologies. Provide technical support to clients and internal teams provide support for setting up IPSec tunnels necessary to integrate new resources as Vistra portfolio grows Upkeeping of systems security per regulatory compliance obligations Be on-call on rotation schedule for 24x7 support of GCS network Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or related experience gained through college degree programs and or certifications in related field 3+ years of experience in network engineering or a related field. Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies. Hands-on experience with network equipment from vendors such as Palo Alton, Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, Arista, etc. Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools and interfacing with terminal server, and RTU is preferred. Familiarity with Panorama, TACACS, Splunk, TripWire, etc. Good Experience in Managing a fleet of firewalls through Panorama including the below features Centrally manage policies Upgrade and patch management from Panorama Monitor and troubleshoot from Panorama Good knowledge of LSVPN including running OSPF over LSVPN Setting up B2B VPN tunnels with third parties Good knowledge of IP Address management (IPAM), Active Directory and DNS Key Metrics Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
