Job Description Continental’s Data & Customer Solutions Competence Center develops innovative digital products that support both our customers and internal teams, and we’d love for you to be part of it! Our Digital Solutions IT team is searching for a talented Backend Developer to oversee and enhance our ContiConnect Service, a digital tire monitoring platform for commercial fleets around the world. In your role, you will work in a SCRUM team closely with the backend developers, data engineers and UI/App developers to build and enhance our existing and future digital services within Continental Tires. With this job, you join the global team working on our product ContiConnect. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of digital services within Continental Tires, driving innovation and technological advancement in our industry. Main Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain reliable backend microservices with a focus on scalability and performance; Contribute to the creation and maintenance of clear technical specifications and design documentation; Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently, escalating when necessary; Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business, architects, and developers) to deliver features using agile practices; Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with team standards and best practices; Ensure backend services meet security, compliance, and quality standards; Participate in code reviews and actively incorporate feedback to improve code quality; Continuously learn and apply new technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance development efficiency. Qualifications University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related field; +2 years of hands-on experience in Java development, preferably with Spring Boot; Solid understanding of relational databases and strong SQL skills; Experience operating and supporting multi-user or distributed systems in production environments; Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, SonarQube); Experience working with containerized environments such as Docker; Basic knowledge of Linux command line and system operations; Understanding of incident management processes in a production setting; Exposure to event-driven architecture or messaging systems (e.g., Apache Kafka) is a plus; Basic frontend knowledge (e.g., Angular) is a plus; Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities; Effective communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; Structured, self-organized work style with a strong sense of ownership and reliability; Business fluent English language skills (written and spoken); Team player mentality; Good communication skills, conveying content to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
