The Role The DevOps Engineer plays a key role in designing, building, and operating APM’s cloud and platform capabilities, enabling secure, reliable, and scalable technology delivery across the organisation. This role is responsible for driving automation, standardisation, and DevSecOps practices across the technology lifecycle, supporting both infrastructure and application delivery through modern engineering approaches. Based in Perth, Sydney, or Melbourne, this is an exciting opportunity to work within a global environment and contribute to the evolution of APM’s cloud platforms and engineering capability. In This Role You Will Design, build, and operate Azure cloud environments across development, test, and production Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform Embed DevSecOps practices, including security controls, scanning, and governance in pipelines Automate infrastructure and application delivery to improve reliability and reduce manual effort Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure-native tools Support incident response, problem management, and root cause analysis Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to improve platform maturity Contribute to platform standards, architecture, and roadmaps Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and optimisation initiatives Participate in an on-call support rotation to support critical services Skills You’ll Bring 5+ years’ experience working in Azure / Microsoft cloud environments or Systems Engineering roles Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, identity, and security Experience implementing DevSecOps practices, including security scanning and governance Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, App Insights) Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g. NIST, ISO, CIS) Exposure to cloud security, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business stakeholders What’s in it for you? That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
