Together we make the difference We are a leading provider of innovative and high-performance solutions for airport logistics. Our portfolio includes products and solutions for baggage and cargo handling, high-end software for the digitalization of logistics processes as well as an extensive range of maintenance and services. Major customers include renowned airports and airlines around the globe. As a Senior Software Developer , you will join a team building innovative cloud-based solutions for baggage handling and airport logistics. Our solutions are developed on OpenAir , Vanderlande’s common platform, and leverage the Aviation Data Hub to deliver data-driven services for the biggest airports in the world. You will combine technical leadership, hands-on coding, and architecture design to create scalable, secure, and future-ready cloud applications. What are my responsibilities? Platform Development Architect and implement cloud-native applications using Node.js for backend and Vue.js for frontend. Integrate services with OpenAir and the Aviation Data Hub for real-time data exchange and analytics. Ensure modularity, scalability, and interoperability across Vanderlande’s digital aviation ecosystem. Technical Leadership Define software architecture and best practices for cloud-based aviation logistics solutions. Act as design authority, align with other stakeholders and guide technical decisions for the team. Innovation & Integration Build services enabling predictive analytics, real-time monitoring, and optimization of baggage handling systems. Collaborate with different stakeholders in the airport to digitalize and optimize processes. Quality & Compliance Ensure adherence to aviation safety and cybersecurity standards. Drive CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices for AWS/Azure deployments. Team Leadership Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. What do I need to qualify for the role? 8+ years in software engineering, with leadership experience. Strong expertise in Node.js, Vue.js or a similar framework and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure). Experience with microservices, API-first design, test-driven software development, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes). Knowledge of data platforms, data streaming architectures, and IoT integration. Familiarity with aviation domain or logistics systems is a plus. Technological knowledge about software/concepts like Kafka, rabbitmq, redis, elasticseach, mongodb, postgres or oauth/JWT is a plus. Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Experience with data-driven services, analytics, and platform engineering. Understanding of Vanderlande’s automation solutions and airport operations. Experience applying AI tools and technologies to enhance software development processes.
