As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in modernizing our origination ecosystem by building scalable, high-performance platform services that power critical business workflows. You’ll drive results in platform transformation, API development, and system integration, and your work will directly support our growth, operational efficiency, and ability to innovate. This role reports to VP of Tech and operates as an individual contributor. What Success Looks Like Here’s how your time might break down (actual time can shift depending on business needs): Platform Modernization & Legacy Replacement – Reducing reliance on legacy systems through scalable service development API & Integration Delivery – Building secure, reliable APIs and supporting internal/external integrations Platform Reliability & Engineering Excellence – Driving code quality, observability, and scalable architecture How You’ll Be Measured Platform Modernization & Architecture Execution Deliver scalable services and components that successfully replace our .NET legacy platform to Python on Databricks API & Integration Engineering Design and implement secure, maintainable APIs and integrations that support internal systems and third-party platforms Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership Partner effectively with engineering, data, and product teams while influencing architecture, standards, and delivery practices You’re a Strong Fit If You Demonstrate the ability to design and build scalable backend systems in complex, data-intensive environments Have a strong ownership mindset and can operate autonomously in ambiguous technical situations Collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and data teams in a distributed environment Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Bring a pragmatic approach to building vs. buying solutions and can justify trade-offs Are naturally curious, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-moving, evolving organization like Greenbox What You’ve Done Before Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 7+ years of professional software engineering experience 5+ years building scalable backend services and APIs using Python Proven experience contributing to or leading platform modernization or migration initiatives Experience working in cloud-native environments (preferably Azure) Experience designing and operating production-grade REST APIs Background in regulated industries such as FinTech, Banking, or Healthcare is a plus Tools And Expertise You’ll Bring Advanced Python (service development, testing, packaging, maintainable design) Must have proven experience and skills working with Databricks, Spark, and data platform ecosystems REST API design, authentication, versioning, and error handling best practices Frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask Azure cloud services (compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, API management) CI/CD pipelines, version control, and tooling (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) DevOps fundamentals including deployment pipelines and secrets management Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing Nice-to-have: Vue.js or modern frontend frameworks, Streamlit, Terraform/Bicep, AI-enabled application patterns, and familiarity with .NET/C# What to Expect from Our Interview Process We believe in a respectful, efficient, and transparent hiring experience. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
