Description Join a global technology team focused on building scalable platforms that help organizations understand and improve customer and employee experiences through large-scale data processing, analytics, and real-time insights. We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Node.js expertise and experience building scalable, distributed applications. In this role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of backend services, event-driven systems, and data-intensive applications that support high-volume production environments. Requirements Proven experience developing backend applications with Node.js and JavaScript. Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL. Experience designing and maintaining scalable backend systems. Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices architectures. Experience working with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming platforms. Experience with Redis or similar caching technologies. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or AKS. Experience monitoring and troubleshooting applications using tools such as Grafana. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices. Proficiency with Git and version control workflows. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Build scalable and reliable APIs, services, and integrations. Develop and maintain PostgreSQL database structures and queries. Work with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka. Implement and manage data storage solutions, including relational databases and key-value stores. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and security. Optimize database performance through query tuning and indexing. Contribute to the design and evolution of microservices-based architectures. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues. Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes. Participate in an on-call rotation, providing passive support approximately one week per month. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
