About the Role As our database engineer in IT Cloud Operations team, your core focus will be Microsoft SQL Server on Azure — monitoring, patching, backups, and incident response — working alongside senior engineers in the US, Europe, and India. Experience with other databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL is a definite plus. This role provides backup coverage for our specialists, so you’ll have time and support to broaden your database and cloud skills as you go. If you’re a solid SQL Server DBA curious about cloud and AI-assisted IT operations, we want to hear from you. What You Will Do Administer production MS SQL Server databases: monitoring, patching, backup management and restore testing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Respond to alerts, identify root cause, and drive issues to resolution. Execute change and release work across environments under change control. Use AI tools to automate routine work and improve troubleshooting and cost efficiency. Grow into Oracle and broader cloud database coverage over time — with training. Preferred Qualifications Solid hands-on experience managing production MS SQL Server databases. Working knowledge of Azure (AWS experience is a plus). Comfortable working day-to-day on Windows Server; Linux familiarity is a plus. Advanced English — you’ll work daily with US-based and global teams. A learning mindset. Oracle, Infrastructure as Code, or experience in a regulated environment are all nice to have — none are required. AI steering & leverage Comfort using AI tools (Copilot, Claude, or similar) to work more efficiently on operational tasks. Bonus if you’ve used an AI assistant in real operational or engineering work — bring an example if you have one. We value the judgment to verify AI output before acting on production, not just familiarity with the tools. Why Signant Health? At Signant Health, your work has real impact. Everything we build, support, and deliver helps advance clinical research and bring new treatments to patients faster — improving lives around the world. Our teams combine science, technology, and operational expertise to solve complex clinical trial challenges, and every role contributes to that mission. We offer a collaborative, global environment where you can grow your career while working alongside experts across clinical, technology, data, and operations, with opportunities to learn, take ownership, and drive meaningful innovation — not just maintain the status quo. If you are looking for purpose-driven work, smart colleagues, and the opportunity to help shape the future of clinical research and digital health, Signant Health is the place to do it. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
