Full time ongoing position Salary range: $113,668 - $131,153 plus super Up to $15,900 in salary packaging, flexible hybrid work arrangement About The Role The Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and accessibility of Victoria Legal Aid's (VLA) advanced data infrastructure. This role involves identifying and resolving data quality issues, collaborating across teams to diagnose problems and help implement solutions. The Data Engineer is essential for upholding high standards of data quality and availability, ensuring that VLA's advanced data infrastructure is fully leveraged to support informed decision-making. This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country. About You As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Proven experience in working with a curated data repository and ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and suitable for analysis and reporting. Proven ability to translate complex business needs and operational contexts into effective data models within a data warehouse environment. Proven experience in identifying root causes of data-related problems, implementing troubleshooting techniques, and recommending improvements to enhance system performance and data integrity. Strong collaborative skills with a proven ability to work effectively with team members, stakeholders, and delivery partners to ensure that incoming data is fit for purpose, meets business requirements, and maintains data quality and integrity throughout the process. Extensive experience designing and managing data warehouse and ETL solutions, including data modelling, schema design and semantic layers, using technologies such as SQL, SSIS, PowerShell, Python, C# or similar. Experience with source/version control, Agile delivery and Azure DevOps. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in plain language for different audiences. Industry-recognised certifications in data engineering or cloud data platforms, such as Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks or Snowflake (highly desirable).
