Job Description Data Engineer - Major ICT MSP & PSP Permanent position - $140,000 to $160,000 dependent on skills Canberra based position Active NV1 or NV2 required - applicants without this cannot be considered Kinexus is a specialist defence and national security recruitment agency with over 25 years of working and specialising in the industry. We have partnered with a major ICT managed and professional services business in hiring for a Data Engineer to manage and uplift a defence environment containing different identity management and directory systems. We're looking for a mid to senior level Data Engineer or ETL Developer to support the enhancement and maintenance of ETL pipelines and identity management systems which underpin critical defence services and business operations. In This Role You Will Monitor and support identity management, ETL, workflow, and directory synchronisation services, ensuring availability, performance, and operational health Investigate and resolve incidents, root-cause data/workflow failures, and support incident, problem, and change management processes Manage identity lifecycle activities (provisioning, modification, deprovisioning) and maintain directory synchronisation across Active Directory, LDAP, and related platforms Develop and maintain ETL and workflow integration solutions, troubleshooting data processing and synchronisation issues affecting downstream systems Support service continuity and change/release activities, including documentation, runbooks, and operational reporting Drive continuous improvement, identifying reliability and efficiency gains, and contributing to platform modernisation and technical debt reduction Provide technical expertise to engineering and project teams on legacy remediation, upgrades, and architecture initiatives What's Needed From You You must hold an active or reinstatable NV1 or NV2 security clearance Strong background in enterprise identity management and integration, including identity lifecycle management, provisioning, directory synchronisation, and Active Directory/LDAP technologies Proven ETL, workflow automation, and integration platform experience, with strong SQL/database troubleshooting skills and knowledge of system integration patterns and service-oriented architectures Skilled in scripting and automation (PowerShell, VBScript, Java-based workflow logic or similar), with experience supporting production services and resolving complex integration/synchronisation issues in operational environments Desirable: experience with IAM platforms (e.g., Identity Bridge), regulated or multi-domain environments, Windows/SQL Server and certificate management, legacy modernisation, and ITIL-aligned incident/problem/change management Sound interesting? Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
