Positioning Statement This role is intended to bridge traditional systems engineering and modern platform practicesensuring the stability of existing enterprise technologies while progressively modernizing them into scalable, automated, and service-oriented platforms. General Summary The Platform Engineer is responsible for the engineering, modernization, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure platforms across hybrid and cloud environments. Principal Duties And Responsibilities Platform Engineering & Modernization : Engineer and evolve enterprise infrastructure platforms spanning on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. Modernize traditional infrastructure (e.g., AD, Windows Server, virtualization) into more automated, scalable, and service-based models. Drive standardization of infrastructure services to improve reliability, supportability, and consistency across sites. Contribute to long-term platform architecture aligned with business and cybersecurity strategy. Partner with the IT Infrastructure Architect Manager to translate architectural standards and future-state designs into implemented solutions. Lead infrastructure deployments, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives across enterprise platforms. Microsoft Ecosystem Engineering Design, implement, and support core Microsoft infrastructure services including Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server platforms. Engineer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online / Hybrid, Entra ID (Azure AD), and identity infrastructure. Cloud & Infrastructure Platforms Engineer and support Azure-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, monitoring, governance, and access control. Contribute to cloud transformation and workload migration initiatives. Nutanix & Virtualization Platforms Design, deploy, and support Nutanix infrastructure, including Nutanix AHV virtualization and HCI hardware platforms. Engineer and support Nutanix Database Service (NDB) for database lifecycle management and automation. Automation & Operational Efficiency Implement targeted automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to improve platform operations. Introduce infrastructure-as-code and automation practices where appropriate. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering roles. Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365, Nutanix, and Azure infrastructure services. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Desired Qualifications Experience with Nutanix Database Service (NDB), infrastructure automation (PowerShell, Python), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep). Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001). Experience participating in infrastructure modernization or cloud transformation initiatives. (ref:hirist.tech)
