Job Description X-energy is hiring experienced Systems Engineers to join its team. This role is responsible for executing rigorous systems engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex nuclear systems throughout their lifecycles. Working within established model-based systems engineering frameworks, this position ensures all system components work together effectively and meet project requirements. The Systems Engineer focuses on verifying and validating product requirements according to the systems engineering lifecycle process while maintaining clear documentation of design decisions and system interfaces. Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities Lead the execution the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment. Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document. Lead small groups of engineers to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality engineering work products on time and within budget. Apply systems thinking and take a holistic approach to solve problems, analyze and design systems, considering the interdependencies and interactions between various components. Lead and manage systems engineering lifecycle efforts surrounding: Stakeholder and operational analysis Requirement identification, decomposition, and management Functional decomposition and modeling Logical system architecture development and modeling Physical product definition, interface management, and change control Design integration and testing System verification and validation Concept of operations development and modeling Develop and maintain system behavior models using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools within established Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) frameworks. Lead the identification and monitoring of technical risks and the development of risk mitigation strategies. Support value engineering activities including cost analyses, economic feasibility assessments, and cost reduction opportunity identification. Write and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Execute systems engineering processes within X-energy's quality management framework. Work across engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of system components and subsystems. Perform work in accordance with X-energy quality assurance procedures to ensure engineering products meet required standards. Always maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering, or other engineering related discipline from an ABET accredited institution required. Level III: Typically, five years of experience in an engineering role required. Level IV: Typically, ten years of experience in an engineering role required. Level V: Typically, fifteen years of experience in an engineering role required. Level VI: Typically, twenty years of experience in an engineering role required. A master’s degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years of experience. A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) may be in lieu of three years of experience. Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standards may be in lieu of years of experience. Experience with systems engineering software tools. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
