Role Overview You will be responsible for designing and building the management layer for a distributed embedded system. This includes designing the policy structure, configuration storage and reliability, secret management, and engines that enable these capabilities. This will allow you to build a performant and robust system from the ground up, having a direct impact on the success of the product line. Required Experience 5+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer Strong proficiency in a subset of modern backend programming languages (Go, Python, Node.js, Rust, etc.) Deep understanding of database technologies, their performance characteristics, and use cases Proven experience designing, building, and securing modern RESTful or gRPC-based APIs for highly available systems Experience with Policy Engines and policy-as-code frameworks Strong understanding of security and secret storage technologies Strong communication and documentation skills Frontend experience is a plus Experience with modern cloud providers and DevOps experience is a plus IoT and Embedded system experience is a nice-to-have We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our employees’ health, well-being, and long-term success. The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 – $250,000 per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined based on job-related factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
