Senior Data Scientist

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will frame complex business questions, design robust analytical approaches and build AI and machine-learning solutions that create practical value. You will combine technical delivery with consulting: translating emerging trends into relevant client solutions, making insights easy to understand, supporting business development and helping less-experienced colleagues grow. Only candidates legally residing in Belgium will be considered for this position. C2-level in one of the 2 national languages and at least B2-level in the other and strong English proficiency is also mandatory. What you will do Frame the right problems. Work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to translate business challenges into clear analytical questions, hypotheses, success measures and realistic delivery plans. Build advanced analytics solutions. Develop, evaluate and improve machine-learning and statistical models for classification, regression, forecasting, NLP and other relevant use cases. Create reliable experiments. Explore and prepare data, select appropriate methods, design experiments and validate results with attention to quality, bias, explainability and business relevance. Make insights actionable. Translate model outputs and complex findings into clear visualisations, recommendations and narratives that decision-makers can understand and use. Support industrialisation. Collaborate with data, software and cloud engineers to move promising models towards secure, maintainable and scalable production solutions. Shape client strategy and growth. Connect industry and technology trends to client operations, contribute to workshops and proposals, and help create new opportunities with existing and prospective CGI clients. Mentor and collaborate. Coach colleagues, review approaches and share good practices while working openly with experts from different disciplines to find the strongest solution. What you bring Relevant education and experience. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Econometrics or another discipline with a strong statistical component, plus at least 5 years of experience in the data domain. Python and/or R. Strong practical skills with the data-science ecosystem, including tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, matplotlib or equivalent libraries. Machine learning and advanced analytics. Proven experience solving complex problems through data analysis, modelling and evaluation, including classification and regression techniques. Natural language processing. Experience with NLP concepts and libraries such as spaCy, NLTK or Stanford NLP, and the ability to select an appropriate approach for the use case. Data and cloud platforms. Experience with advanced analytics and large datasets, together with practical knowledge of at least one major cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud. Consulting and communication. Strong problem-solving, stakeholder and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical choices and results to non-specialist audiences. Agile collaboration. Comfort working iteratively in Agile environments, taking ownership of deliverables and collaborating across business, data, engineering and design disciplines. Additional assets. Experience in software development or DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, MLOps, computer vision, Unity, Linked Data, semantic technologies or knowledge graphs is an advantage.
