This role provides support and ongoing development to a number of high-speed automated production lines and new product introductions, in particular paying attention to PLC controlled equipment, vision systems, revision control systems and manufacturing data integrity and security. Technicians are required across all shifts. Shift pattern is 12 hours across a 3-day/4-day pattern (no rotations): Shift 1: Mon, Tue, Wed, every second Sunday 8 am - 8pm Shift 2: Sun, Mon, Tue, every second Saturday 8pm - 8am (+15% shift allowance for nights only) Shift 3: Thurs, Fri, Sat, every second Sunday 8 am - 8pm Shift 4: Wed, Thurs, Fri, every second Saturday 8pm -8am (+15% shift allowance for nights only) Detailed Description: Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Manages and supports the existing Automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimized downtime. Collaborates with the IT Group, Application Group, and External Technical Resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies. Provides Final Third Level support on all technical issues. Provides solutions, which implement industry best practice to deliver improved productivity, quality and efficiency throughout the organization. Installs and deploys systems, software and peripherals as required, liaising with external vendors and service contractors as appropriate. Sources appropriate equipment and services through appropriate liaison with purchasing department. Provides technical direction for all new infrastructure developments, in agreement with the Engineering Manager. Benchmarks system performance and provides regular reports. Interfaces with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments. Perform system backups and recovery. Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software and other applications. Provides regular reports to Management and delivers projects within agreed time-frames and budgets. Documents all aspects of system support including all procedures to ISO standards. Provides innovative inputs to new production lines in the areas of control, data collection, motive power, robotics, vision systems and communications. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies: Degree/Diploma (Level 7/8) in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-4 years' relevant experience in Medical Devices or suppliers. Experience required with PLC programming, in-line vision systems, barcode systems, network topology, PC application software, Remote I/O, systematic troubleshooting / problem solving skills. Knowledge of electrical systems Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drive Technology Experience of TCP/IP and Wide Area Network architectures. Programming of Allen-Bradley Controllogix5000 and PLC5 Visual Basic applications. Equipment and Software Validation, FAT/SAT. An ability to demonstrate a high level of technical ability, with hands on approach to solving technical issues Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team Someone who is Resourceful, hands-on and enjoys a challenge Knowledge of robotics, vision system and debugs analysis Good analytical skills
