Job Role: Staff Nurse – Psychiatric & Rehabilitation Care Job Description Provide nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for alcohol, substance, and habit dependencies. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, art-based therapists, psychiatric social workers, and counsellors. Support patients across IPD and OPD settings. Assess patient needs and implement appropriate nursing interventions to support recovery. Build positive relationships with patients and their families while helping address mental health-related stigma. Coordinate patient admission and discharge procedures. Orient patients and relatives regarding the unit, available services, and mental health awareness. Monitor patients regularly and document relevant clinical information. Provide health education and promote healthy recovery practices. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Nursing: Record and monitor patients' vital signs. Conduct behavioural observations and identify changes in patient condition. Perform routine nursing care procedures and recovery interventions. Administer prescribed medications and IV fluids. Monitor intake and output charts. Collect patient specimens as required. Perform ECG procedures. Provide tube feeding and suctioning care. Administer enema/proctoclysis when prescribed. Assist with blood transfusions and CPR. Maintain proper patient documentation and clinical records. Clinical Support Assist doctors with diagnostic procedures, treatments, and therapies. Conduct routine investigations and report abnormal findings promptly. Monitor patients regularly and communicate relevant changes to doctors and senior staff. Ensure proper patient handover between shifts. Mental Health & Rehabilitation Support Provide mental health awareness to patients and their relatives. Encourage participation in therapeutic activities. Support patients in their recovery and treatment plans. Build rapport with patients and families. Maintain a safe, supportive, and confidential environment. Infection Control & Safety Follow proper aseptic techniques and infection-control measures. Ensure cleanliness of patient units and surrounding environments. Check the functionality and availability of medical equipment. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Use hospital resources responsibly. Administration & Team Coordination Maintain medical and nursing inventory. Coordinate with other hospital departments. Participate in clinical teachings, incidental teachings, and in-service training programmes. Supervise and guide new nurses and GDA staff. Perform other duties assigned by the In-charge or HOD. Required Qualifications Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing. Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant industry experience. Strong nursing skills and clinical knowledge. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Good patient communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle patients with sensitivity, patience, and professionalism. Work Environment Multidisciplinary psychiatric and rehabilitation care setting.
