About StaycationGo StaycationGo is building technology and media tools for the short-term rental industry. Our platform helps vacation rental owners grow their bookings, manage guests, and optimize performance. We are part of the Staycation ecosystem, including the Destination Channel and the Staycation travel series. We are a small but fast-moving startup team currently working with three developers to build the next generation platform for hosts. Role Overview We are looking for a versatile Associate Software Engineer who is comfortable working across the stack rather than staying in one lane. One day that means shipping a SvelteKit feature from end to end; the next, tuning a PostgreSQL query, wiring up an API, or debugging a deploy. You will work alongside the team on the guest-facing product, the host dashboard, and the platform underneath both. This is a growth role. You will not be expected to know everything, but you will be expected to learn fast, ship practical solutions, and ask good questions. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain full-stack features for the guest-facing product and the host dashboard, using SvelteKit (Svelte 5 runes) and TypeScript across the server and the client. Own features from end to end: build the page a guest sees, the API route behind it, and the data query it depends on, so the whole flow works as one piece. Work with the data layer in PostgreSQL using Prisma: write queries and shape schemas so the product stays accurate and fast. Integrate the platform with StaycationGo's data and hooks: wire pages and services to APIs, webhooks, and third-party providers (e.g. Stripe) so the product stays current with live data. Fix, maintain, and improve existing code across the platform, including our AI and integration features, so the system stays healthy as it grows. Write and maintain tests for the features you ship, so changes land safely as the platform grows. Help ship features to production using our stack (Docker, Coolify, Cloudflare), whichever is the pragmatic path, so work moves from local to live reliably. Work in conjunction with the current team on related platform tasks, sharing ownership of what ships through GitHub pull requests and reviews. Requirements Hands-on experience building full-stack web applications, such as features, pages, APIs, or integrations, with TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar. Working knowledge of SvelteKit, or the ability to get up to speed with it, in particular how data flows between the server and the client. Comfortable integrating with APIs, databases, and webhooks, and able to wire an application to live data. Secondary: practical understanding of relational databases, in particular writing queries and shaping schemas in PostgreSQL (bonus: with Prisma). Problem-solving mindset and ability to ship practical solutions quickly in a small startup environment. Basic scripting or programming knowledge (TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar). A strong advantage: hands-on experience with DevOps and tooling such as Docker, Coolify, Cloudflare, GitHub, and CI/CD, plus Prisma and Stripe, and basic knowledge of LLM or RAG concepts. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
