PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Job Title: PostgreSQL Database Administrator Location: Remote (USA) Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performance tuning, high availability architecture, and enterprise-scale database operations, with the ability to mentor junior team members and drive best practices across the organization. Mandatory Skills 8+ years of hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL in production environments Strong expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and performance tuning Proven experience with replication (streaming, logical), clustering, and high availability solutions (e.g., Patroni, repmgr, Pgpool-II) Deep understanding of backup and recovery tools (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pgBackRest, Barman, WAL archiving/PITR) Expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, and EXPLAIN/ANALYZE plan tuning Solid experience with database security: roles, permissions, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest/in transit Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation Experience with monitoring tools (pgAdmin, pg_stat_statements, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, or similar) Solid understanding of SQL and PL/pgSQL for stored procedures, triggers, and functions Experience with version upgrades and major migration projects Strong troubleshooting skills for performance, connectivity, and data integrity issues
