Cybersecurity Engineer Experience: 2–10+ years Location: Washington, DC; Virginia; Texas; Maryland; California Salary: $110,000–$190,000+ per year, depending on experience, location, and qualifications Employment Type: Full-time About The Role We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, monitor, and continuously improve enterprise security infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience across SIEM, SOC operations, IAM, Zero Trust, EDR, network security, and cloud security , with strong analytical and automation capabilities using Python and Splunk . You will work closely with security operations, infrastructure, cloud, networking, and engineering teams to detect threats, strengthen security controls, investigate incidents, and reduce organizational risk. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions across enterprise environments. Monitor and investigate security events using SIEM/SOC technologies, particularly Splunk. Develop and optimize security monitoring, detection rules, dashboards, alerts, and correlation logic. Support incident detection, investigation, containment, and remediation. Administer and improve Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls, including authentication, authorization, privileged access, and access reviews. Implement and mature Zero Trust security principles across users, devices, applications, networks, and cloud environments. Deploy, manage, and tune Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions. Secure enterprise networks through firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation, VPN, and other network security controls. Implement and monitor cloud security controls across cloud infrastructure and services. Develop Python scripts and automation to improve security operations and reduce manual processes. Perform vulnerability analysis, security assessments, and risk remediation activities. Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, cloud, and application teams to integrate security into technology environments. Participate in threat hunting and proactively identify indicators of compromise and emerging threats. Maintain security documentation, standards, procedures, and technical reports. Support security audits, compliance requirements, and incident-response exercises. Required Qualifications 2–10+ years of cybersecurity, information security, security engineering, or related experience. Strong understanding of SIEM and SOC operations. Hands-on experience with Splunk or comparable SIEM platforms. Experience with IAM technologies and security principles. Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and modern security frameworks. Experience with EDR platforms and endpoint security. Strong understanding of network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation, VPNs, and network monitoring. Experience with cloud security across platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Proficiency in Python for security automation, scripting, data analysis, or tooling. Strong knowledge of security monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, CySA+, CEH, GIAC, or relevant cloud-security certifications. Experience with security orchestration and automation. Familiarity with threat intelligence, threat hunting, and MITRE ATT&CK. Experience securing hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
