Job Summary/Introduction We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support scalable, secure and reliable data solutions. This is a long-term contract opportunity with a likely chance of extension. Sydney is preferred, with other locations considered. Hybrid working requires 3 days per week in the office. Applicants must hold a current NV1 AGSVA security clearance. Applicants without NV1 clearance will not be considered. Detailed Job Description As a Database Engineer, you will design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions across secure data environments. Key Responsibilities Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes across multiple data sources Work with data architects, analysts and downstream consumers to deliver reliable data solutions Implement batch and near-real-time data processing solutions Maintain data quality, reliability and platform performance Support cloud-based data platforms, data lakes and data warehouses Apply data security, privacy and access control requirements Troubleshoot data pipeline failures and performance issues Support automation, monitoring and continuous improvement Required Skills & Experience 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering or similar data-focused engineering roles Strong ETL/ELT and data pipeline orchestration experience Strong SQL skills with relational and NoSQL database experience Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse or equivalent Experience with structured and semi-structured data Knowledge of data modelling and performance optimisation Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Location & Working Arrangements Sydney preferred, with other locations considered.
