Job Description The IT Systems Engineer II role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house and cloud information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by designing, building, managing, and supporting the infrastructure services that underpin all internal user services and services to the public. The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Planning Support and assist the IT Infrastructure Manager in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the other IT team members with specific focus on infrastructure service delivery and life cycle management. Implementing and maintain policies and procedures set by the IT leadership. Deploy, manage, and maintain the enterprise’s infrastructure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan set by the IT Infrastructure manager and IT leadership. Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for all IT infrastructure systems. Procurement & Deployment Support development and implementation of the in-house and cloud Infrastructure systems projects and new technology installations. Conduct research on cloud and in-hose datacenter infrastructure products, services, and standards in support of IT infrastructure procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend cloud/in-house hosted systems and solutions for purchase. Write technical specifications for purchase of infrastructure systems. Operational Management IT infrastructure. You can build, configure, administer and support infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS and open-source packages and solutions, and virtual and cloud computing, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
