AutoStore’s R&D Test department plays a key role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and safety of our products by thoroughly testing hardware and software components—including firmware, mechanical systems, electrical and radio interfaces. As a Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for running tests and verifications across the full hardware product portfolio, identifying issues and ensuring top-tier performance before release. In this hands-on role, you’ll work with both early-stage prototypes and finalized modules, contributing to new development and sustaining projects. As a test engineer, you will take a leading role in cross functional teams, taking ownership of the testing, and being responsible for ensuring progress and high standards. Success in this role requires curiosity, attention to detail, and a deep interest in understanding how AutoStore’s systems operate. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across departments, combining desk-based analysis with active testing in our facilities to help deliver high-quality products to market. Tasks And Responsibilities Testing of AutoStore modules: robots, ports, adjacent technologies, their firmware and sub-components. Preparation of formal test specifications and the set-up of test plans in cooperation with product developers. Execution and automation of tests Issue reporting, including route cause analysis and follow-up as part of the development process. Ownership of the entire testing lifecycle, responsibility for reporting to Project and Product Managers, tracking of test performance against KPIs and responsible for ensuring defects are found early. Contribute to all processes in an interdisciplinary testing department; from development of test methodology and equipment, to testing of products and solutions. Improving the AutoStore product range from A to Z through acquiring system-wide knowledge, including from a customer perspective. Key Qualifications Background in Automation, Electronics, IT or relevant higher education including mechanical and computer engineering Strong IT competence within software and digital tools used to analyse how products and solutions work Testing experience desired. ISTQB Certification or similar would be a bonus. Knowledge of test planning, analysis, execution and completion It is an advantage to have good knowledge of tools for test administration (Jira, Xray, Confluence, Excel etc.). Excellent communication skills in Norwegian and English, written and oral. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
