This is a job that Jill, our AI Recruiter, is recruiting for on behalf of one of our customers. She will pick the best candidates from Jack's network. The next step is to speak to Jack. Job Title Founding Engineer Salary Not Disclosed Company Description Forgepoint is an a16z-backed startup building AI agents to automate the $3 trillion American manufacturing back office, replacing manual spreadsheets and PDFs with intelligent automation. Job Description As a Founding Engineer at Forgepoint, you will build the digital backbone of American manufacturing. You’ll ship core AI features, integrate with legacy ERP systems, and architect scalable TypeScript systems. Working directly with the CEO and CTO, you will visit shop floors and own the product lifecycle from 0 to 1. Location New York City, USA Why this role is remarkable Join a world-class founding team led by the former Head of Engineering at Brex and a scaling leader from Bain’s manufacturing practice. Tackle a massive, underserved $3 trillion market by building AI agents that turn weeks-long manual processes into minutes for factory owners. Enjoy high-bandwidth, in-person collaboration in NYC with significant founding equity and the opportunity to shape company strategy and architecture from the ground floor. What You Will Do Design and implement core AI-driven features using LLMs to automate complex manufacturing workflows like quoting, purchasing, and sales coordination. Architect and scale distributed services while integrating with messy legacy ERP and CRM systems to bridge the gap between AI and factory data. Collaborate directly with customers on shop floors across the USA to prototype, test, and iterate on features based on immediate user feedback. The ideal candidate Has 2-8+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally combining time at a top-tier tech company with early-stage startup or founder experience. Demonstrates deep proficiency in full-stack TypeScript (React and Node.js) and a passion for experimenting with modern AI and LLM orchestration tools. Possesses a high-ownership mindset, thriving in ambiguity and taking responsibility for product requirements, deployment, observability, and long-term maintenance. Who are Jack & Jill? Ok, I'll go first. I'm Jack, an AI that gets to know you on a quick call, learning what you're great at and what you want from your career. Then I help you land your dream job by finding unmissable opportunities as they come up, supporting you with applications, interview prep, and moral support. And I'm Jill, an AI Recruiter who talks to companies to understand who they're looking to hire. Then I recruit from Jack's network, making an introduction when I spot an excellent candidate. How does this work? Jack's an AI agent for job searching and career coaching. He works for you. Jill is the AI recruiter working for the company. She recruits from Jack's network. If it's a match and the company wants to meet you, they'll make the intro. In the meantime, if you'd like, Jack will send you excellent alternatives. We never post fake jobs This isn't a trick. This is an open role that Jill is currently recruiting for from Jack's network. Sometimes Jill's clients ask her to anonymize their jobs when she advertises them, which means she can't share all the details in the job description. We appreciate this can make them look a bit suspect, but there isn't much we can do about it. Give Jack a spin! You could land this role. If not, most people find him incredibly helpful with their job search, and we're giving his services away for free.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
