Job Title: Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Location: Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, or Brazil Work Mode: 100% Remote Equipment: Provided and shipped to the candidate's address Employment Type: Independent Contractor (hourly pay; no benefits; candidate responsible for own taxes) Contract Duration: Open-ended Work Schedule: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, with overlap during PST business hours About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, and deployment pipelines in a dynamic production environment leveraging AWS, Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, Harness, Datadog, and Terraform. This engineer will be responsible for infrastructure and tooling across the organization while helping ensure reliable, scalable, secure, and efficient operations. In this role, you will automate infrastructure provisioning, manage containerized applications, maintain continuous delivery pipelines, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, and networking issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong infrastructure background and extensive hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering. The candidate should be highly capable of independently analyzing complex technical problems, identifying root causes, and implementing reliable solutions in production environments. Requirements Extensive senior-level experience in SRE, DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering, or a similar role, with strong hands-on production experience. Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes, particularly Amazon EKS, in production environments. Strong experience managing, troubleshooting, and supporting Kubernetes/EKS environments. Strong hands-on experience with Harness, particularly for continuous delivery (CD) and deployment pipelines. Strong hands-on experience with Datadog for monitoring, logging, metrics, alerting, and observability. Strong understanding of AWS and Kubernetes networking, with hands-on experience troubleshooting connectivity, routing, DNS, load balancing, security groups, and related networking issues. Experience working with and troubleshooting systems involving MS SQL, Amazon S3, and DynamoDB. Experience with Terraform or other declarative infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation or Pulumi. Experience with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or MS SQL. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex production issues and identify root causes. Experience collaborating with engineering teams working primarily in PST. Nice to Have Experience with software development and automation using languages beyond shell scripting, such as Golang, Python, Elixir, or Java. Experience developing platforms and tools for development, staging, and integration environments. Experience debugging application performance and networking issues in Kubernetes/EKS environments. Experience with GitOps and other CI/CD tools such as Argo, Flux, or Jenkins. Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or CloudWatch. Experience with audit and compliance frameworks such as SOX, SOC2, ISO27001, or PCI DSS. Working knowledge of UNIX-based operating systems. Computer Science or Engineering degree. Responsibilities Participate in a regular on-call rotation and respond to incidents reliably and professionally. Maintain and evolve AWS cloud infrastructure, employing automation and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform. Build and maintain continuous delivery pipelines using Harness and develop automation that enables agile software development and self-service approaches where possible. Manage and support containerized environments running on Kubernetes/Amazon EKS. Monitor and troubleshoot production environments using Datadog and other observability tools. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application performance, Kubernetes, and networking issues. Diagnose connectivity and networking issues across AWS and Kubernetes environments. Work with systems and applications utilizing MS SQL, Amazon S3, and DynamoDB. Collaborate effectively with Software Engineers and other team members to solve complex technical challenges. Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions to recurring production issues. Quickly absorb technical context and knowledge while ramping up in the environment. Support system reliability, deployment processes, and operational excellence across cloud platforms.
