1. About Our Client : This organization specializes in supporting the US federal government, focusing on strengthening national security, defense, public safety, and health sectors. With a workforce of over 13,000 professionals, the organization operates at a significant scale across various federal agencies. 2. About the Opportunity : The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows to enable analytics and reporting. This role integrates diverse data sources, ensures data quality and reliability, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to align data solutions with organizational goals. It plays a critical role in supporting data-driven decision making and advancing federal government missions through cloud-native technologies. 3. Responsibilities : Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and related technologies Develop efficient data processing and transformation workflows Integrate data from APIs, databases, and cloud storage into unified datasets Collaborate with data science, analytics, and business teams to implement data solutions Implement validation, monitoring, and observability processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability Support data governance, security, and automation initiatives Utilize AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and Redshift to deploy data solutions in a cloud environment 4. Requirements : Experience with cloud-based ETL services (e.g., AWS Glue, Google Cloud Dataflow, Azure Data Factory) Experience with cloud data warehousing technologies (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake) Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and PySpark Experience with data platforms like Databricks, Palantir, and Snowflake Familiarity with data orchestration and data quality processes Must be a US Citizen Bonus qualifications include: Secret clearance or higher Experience with federal clients Experience with COTS and open-source tools such as ElasticSearch and NiFi Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Hadoop, Spark, NiFi, and ELK stack Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies Relevant data engineering certifications 5. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
