Job Description We’re looking for a senior Python Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment. At our company, engineers are not just coders — they are builders, problem-solvers, and collaborators who care deeply about the impact of their work. You’ll play a key role in designing and scaling our backend systems, helping us ship features quickly (we release weekly), make data-driven decisions, and take full ownership of projects from design through production. You’ll work on mission-critical systems that power a fintech product used daily by thousands of customers. Beyond traditional backend development, you’ll also help us leverage and integrate AI-powered workflows — from developer productivity tools and coding assistants to customer-facing automation. We’re especially excited about applying LLMs and agent frameworks to accelerate engineering velocity and bring intelligence into our systems. If you’re motivated by ownership, rapid iteration, and pushing boundaries with both backend engineering and AI-driven development, you’ll feel right at home here. What you’ll do Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions in Python Leverage LLMs and AI-powered tools to accelerate day-to-day developer productivity (coding, testing, documentation) Prototype and integrate AI-driven flows (agents, RAG pipelines, automation) into backend systems and customer-facing features Design and maintain backend systems and APIs that combine traditional engineering best practices with AI-augmented development approaches Work on database design and interact with relational databases using ORMs, such as SQLAlchemy Implement and maintain unit and integration tests using frameworks like Unittest, pytest, and Behave to ensure code reliability Write technical documentation, lead code reviews and pair programming sessions Collaborate with team members and participate in technical interviews to assess candidates’ coding skills Engage in discussions to provide insights into business and technical decisions and project updates Be a technical leader within the team you work with. What we’re looking for 5+ years of experience writing production-level backend code in Python (FastAPI, Tornado, Flask) Strong experience designing REST APIs and working with databases Strong understanding of relational databases and experience with ORMs (SQLAlchemy) Solid background in algorithmic design and object-oriented programming Experience leveraging LLMs and AI-powered tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot) to improve developer productivity Experience with, or strong interest in, integrating LLMs and agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI functions, etc.) into production systems and workflows Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, Sentry, CloudWatch) Familiarity with data-driven development practices, including experimentation, instrumentation, and metrics analysis Proficiency in unit testing frameworks such as Unittest, pytest, and Behave Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GitHub Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote-first environment A responsible and dedicated individual with a keen attention to detail Experience working with start-ups Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field Nice to have Hands-on experience with advanced LLM applications — e.g., multi-agent workflows, orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), or autonomous coding/testing agents. Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS). Experience optimizing AI pipelines for latency, cost efficiency, and reliability in production environments. Familiarity with AWS services using boto, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation Experience working with Docker and containerized development workflows Experience working with third-party integrations (Plaid, Unit, Finix, etc.) Previous experience in fintech or with financial products Preference for candidates with startup experience and a diverse range of roles in their career

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
