Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer – Pipeline Architecture Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office Location: San Diego, CA 1 Year Contract, W-2 position. Responsibilities Own the operational strategy, architecture, and technical direction for enterprise GitLab and JFrog Artifactory platforms. Lead cloud-native transformations, Kubernetes migrations, and GitOps adoption. Architect multi-region, highly available, active-active platform deployments. Design self-healing systems with automated remediation and chaos engineering practices. Establish cloud-native engineering standards around containerization, 12-factor applications, observability, reliability, and automation. Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs and drive continuous platform improvement. Mentor engineers on automation, Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, and platform engineering practices. Influence organizational standards for developer platforms, infrastructure, reliability, and developer experience. Evaluate emerging technologies including AI-assisted operations, eBPF, service mesh, and cloud-native tooling. Partner with engineering, security, infrastructure, and development teams to establish scalable platform solutions. Drive technical decisions across complex distributed systems and enterprise infrastructure environments. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years of experience operating and architecting enterprise-scale infrastructure or platforms. 5+ years of self-managed GitLab experience, including GitLab Geo, high availability, and disaster recovery. 5+ years of JFrog Artifactory experience, including enterprise deployments, federation, and Hub/Edge architectures. 3+ years of deep Kubernetes experience, including operators, CRDs, service mesh, and multi-cluster environments. 7+ years of advanced Linux experience, including kernel, networking, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Strong experience with PostgreSQL high availability, including technologies such as Patroni. Advanced networking knowledge, including BGP, anycast, zero-trust architectures, and distributed networking concepts.
